To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu I was just speaking to a friend of mines upnorth. He like my self run JNOS and the baycom modem, while we where talking he says that he's been able to get the NOS program running with L2 and TFPCX, without running AX25 driver. SO, makes me wonder if anyone has been able to get ANY baycom program that uses the TFPCX or L@ drivers to work in WIndows or OS/2. If they do work, then I can't see why running those drivers for the JNOS program won't working in those OS's(Minus Windows, beucase it's not a true OS). -- ____________________________________________________________________________ | David AMPRnet - ve3tos@ve3tos.ampr.org www | |Don Mills, Ontario Internet - da884@cleveland.freenet.edu (o o) | |_Canada____VE3TOS_____Packet - ve3tos@va3bbs.#scon.on.can.noam_oOO__(_)__OOo| ------------------------------ Date: 5 Aug 1994 10:01:22 GMT From: ihnp4.ucsd.edu!dog.ee.lbl.gov!overload.lbl.gov!agate!howland.reston.ans.net!math.ohio-state.edu!uwm.edu!convex.csd.uwm.edu!erchul@network.ucsd.edu Subject: MFJ 1278 & PACTOR To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu I recently purchased a MFJ 1278B. On the box in the listing of modes it includes PACTOR. The manual that came with the tnc says NOTHING about PACTOR mode. I managed to get the mode set for PACTOR and receive an "n_cmd:" prompt. If anyone can help me out with the PACTOR commands I would certainly appreciate it. If it would involve xeroxing some pages I would gladly pay for the copying and postage. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | David A. V. Please tell me what's available. Thanks. Bill aa1es I had probmems on my 386 running PA0GRI or Jnos under windows. The system would work for about 2 days of continuous operation and then NOS would cause a GPF fault in windows. Sometimes it would run longer...sometimes shorter. The problem was with the fact that both NOS and Windows were trying to independantly manage the computers memory. For ocasional usage I suppose this wouldnt be a problem. but if you intend to keep your station up 24hours/day I would not recomend it! Perhaps Novell dos 7, with multitasking would solve the problem? Since I added the 486 I have had no need to wory about it...Nos runs fine under dos and I do my serious work on the other machine.
